Worms is now available on Facebook.

Yes, it has been a while coming, but it is there now.

If you have not played recently, now is the time to get engaged.

We also thought we would use this opportunity to share the news that Worms is now also available to play on Singapore Airlines as part of a new IFE (In Flight Entertainment) initiative.

Now that is sweet.

We hope additional airlines will soon follow suit.

We can imagine the fun of the great asynchronous play on an airline.

Finally, a recent survey by Dubit (Market Research) has indicated that Worms is the third most played game by kids at the moment.

We are pleased to confirm that last week Worms Revolution hit the heady heights of the number one slot on the Sony Playstation download chart PSN (Playstation Network).

Top 10 on Microsoft and Sony Platforms in Europe.

Not only that, it reached number 7 in the Microsoft XBOX XBLA (XBOX Live Arcade) download chart.

This is great news for Team 17 and the Worms franchise which continues to go from strength to strength.

For existing and future merchandise licensees, we hope the market continues to become aware of the success of Worms as a franchise on multiple app/game download platforms.

There is a growing amount of evidence covering the fact this is a brand that has been here, is here now, and is here to stay and many merchandise and retail partners will soon begin to understand the necessity to have a balanced gaming merchandise portfolio which needs to include WORMS purely due to the awareness, humour, and elasticity of the brand.

Worms™ on Facebook is just around the corner….

Team 17 announced yesterday that the Worms™ Facebook game closed beta is now OPEN for registrations!

For those that are interested, access to the beta is a two stage process.

First go to http://apps.facebook.com/playworms/ where you’ll be asked to enter your details and fill in a short questionnaire.

Secondly wait for the email telling you that you’ve been selected.

More and more players will be added every day so even if you’re not selected immediately it shouldn’t be too long before you can enter the battle.

Players should also remember that the game is still in beta and as a result is subject to changes, tweeks, down-time and all that good stuff.

This is great news for the continued development of the WORMS™ franchise and we hope more merchandise licensees and retailers will be excited enough by this new development to sign up with us.

Simon Kay, CEO of AT New Media, said on the breaking of this news; “The traditional boxed game market suffered a further decline recently so any game brand that has been a consistent performer on all digital and online platforms has an increasing chance of success in the merchandise marker and WORMS™ will continue to evolve.”
