Digital specialist AT New Media (that’s us) – merchandise licensing agent for iconic video game brand Carmageddon – has announced that the original version of the legendary race game will soon be available via iOS, Android and for PC through GOG.com shortly.

Carmageddon is the hilarious and brutal car game created by UK independent developer Stainless Games. The original was released in the late 90s and the game’s tongue-in-cheek violence caused a huge media storm, prompting questions in the Houses of Parliament, TV debates and reams of newspaper coverage. Today’s gamers will soon be able to find out what all the fuss was about by downloading the original game to PCs, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android.

Carmageddon fans are also eagerly awaiting a major new release – ‘Carmageddon Reincarnation’ – Release Date to be confirmed. Funding for the new game has been driven by a successful campaign on the crowd-sourced funding site Kickstarter.com, which has seen devotees pour in money to aid the game’s development. To thank them, Stainless Games will be launching the iOS version of the game completely free on the iTunes store for the first 24 hours after launch – enabling backers and fans to enjoy the all-new Carmageddon experience for free. The exact date of this will be announced in the coming weeks.

As well as catering to the million of hugely enthusiastic existing fans, the downloadable version of the original Carmageddon and the eagerly anticipated new game will deliver a unique, high octane and anarchic gaming experience to a whole new generation of gamers.

AT New Media has been appointed to capitalise on the huge amount of interest that surrounds the brand and has already been in talks with potential partners in regards to merchandising opportunities with a focus on collectibles, apparel, and limited edition concepts.

“With the original soon to be available again and the new version waiting in the wings, Carmageddon-fever is set to explode in the same way it did fifteen years ago!” says Simon Kay of AT New Media. “The brand is receiving a lot of press coverage and gaming websites are absolutely alive with anticipation, so we will be using this massive buzz to build up a licensing programme that will delight new and old fans alike.”

We are pleased to announce that we are now acting as merchandise licensing agent for iconic video game brand Carmageddon.

Carmageddon is a series of games featuring hilarious and brutal race car action created byUKindependent developer Stainless Games. First released in the late 90’s, the controversial, multi-million selling and critically acclaimed franchise is due to be re-booted with a major new release – ‘Carmageddon Reincarnation’ – due out in late 2012.

The original Carmageddon and its sequels, caused a huge media storm, prompting questions in the Houses of Parliament, TV debates and reams of newspaper coverage – the game’s tongue-in-cheek violence being ideal material for a little press hysteria and political ‘outrage’.

Catering to the existing, enthusiastic fanbase, the eagerly anticipated ‘Carmageddon Reincarnation’ will also deliver a unique, high octane, anarchic gaming experience to a whole new generation of gamers.
